What do peak CEOs ACTUALLY do?
What do peak CEOs ACTUALLY do?
Not everything. That’s for darn sure.
The best CEOs I know aren’t trying to be the smartest person in every room, make every decision or hold the whole company together with sheer force of will.
They get really good at and laser in on the few things that are actually theirs to own. For me, that comes down to The CEO 6:
Clarity - set the direction.
Communication - keep people aligned.
Culture - set the standard.
Courage - make the calls others can’t.
Cash - know the numbers.
Creativity - see what needs to come next.
That’s the job. Of course, there are a thousand things wrapped around those six. But the work can be delegated.
The ownership can’t.
And I think this is where a lot of CEOs get stuck.
They’re incredibly busy.
They’re solving problems.
They’re answering questions.
They’re jumping into the gaps.
But they’re spending less and less time on the things only the CEO can really do.
So over the next six weeks, I’m going to unpack each of the CEO 6. Not as another cheesy checklist for already-overloaded CEOs or to tell you how to do what you already know. More as a lens.
Where are you strong?
Where are you getting pulled into the weeds?
And where does your business need more of you right now?
Catch you next week for the first of the six - Clarity - why your leadership team is busy but your business still feels stuck.
